Obituary of Vincent J. Flow

Please share a memory of Vincent to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Vincent James Flow Jr., died suddenly on Tuesday, August 21st at his home in Sarasota, Florida at the age of 92. Vince was born May 11, 1926 to James and Susan (Petote) Flow in Brockport, NY. He is predeceased by his only sibling and older brother Joseph. Vince served his country in the United States Navy as a gunner during WWII, in both the European and Pacific theaters. On November 6, 1948 he married his one true love, Dolores Mae Giraulo. During their 69 years of marriage, they raised four children and enjoyed a "country style" life, -traveling the country in their motor home, square dancing and making new friends, spending summers at the Flow Family Garlic Farm, and of late, daily drives exploring Florida. While Vince's work career ranged from truck mechanic, to painter, to carpenter, he found his passion in sales. Starting as a door to door rep for Aluminum pots and pans, he moved on to become Area Supervisor for the Carnation Company, and eventually retired from Rochester Colonial Manufacturing as Vice President in charge of sales in 1991. He was always actively evolved in his community and was a member of the Lions Club, the Elks Club as well as the Masons and Shriners. Vince volunteered as a driver for Special Needs children, escorting them to area doctors and hospitals as part of the Shriners community service mission. Most mornings he could be found at his local McDonalds solving the world problems with his friends over coffee. Vince enjoyed watching boxing or MMA matches and enjoyed making and smoking sausages, canning various relishes and trying new recipes he'd discover on the internet. He developed great cooking skills and even became an accomplished pie maker. He still enjoyed the foods he grew up with such as venison, giblets, puffball, or a good cow tongue. He waited patiently for rigatoni and meatball day at his son's Timmy's house. Vince is survived by his wife, Dolores, his children Susan Flow (Michael Livesay)of Keenesburg, Colorado, Vincent (Barbara) Flow lll of Kendall, NY, Mary-Jo Ehrlich (Felix Ortiz) of Albany, NY, and Timothy (Nancy) Flow of Sarasota, Florida. Vince was blessed with seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and a lifetime of good friends. Vince will be remembered for his devotion to family, especially his wife Dolly, his love of good food and friends, his welcoming smile and infectious laugh, his generous heart, his faithfulness to God and country, and his overall zeal for living. He will be greatly missed by all. Calling hours will be held to honor Vince and celebrate his life on Saturday, October 6th from 1:00-3:00PM at Fowler's Funeral Home, 340 West Avenue, Brockport NY, 14420.
