Mr. Sanford, David and Matt:
I have many fond memories of being in your home while I was a kid and friend to Matt. I've known Mrs. Sanford since I was 6 years old, was a regular guest in the Sanford household in the 1980's and 90's and continue to be a close friend to Matt, Mr. Sanford and David. I remember being in Mrs. Sanford's kitchen as she patiently cooked, joked and did the parenting work of a sleepover while boys crashed matchbox cars on the linoleum in the hallway, or played Adventure People in the front yard, or set-up and delicately put away G.I. Joe toys, careful not to leave any parts in her immaculate dining room carpet. She was always bright, always smiling, her home and gardens always welcoming. As the years passed, Mrs. Sanford took care of me and our crew, watching over us at Brockport High School, encouraging us to find our way, being thoughtful about the space young people need on the path of life. Although I had not seen Mrs. Sanford in many years, my memories of the warmth of their home, the hearth, the affection she had for those dogs lying on the family room floor (Sugar, Moose and Princess, specifically) - these happy memories are now a part of me and I am eternally grateful for being given the privilege of being under her wing for a time all those years ago.
