Connie D. Graves
Brockport: Connie passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on April 23, 2023 at the age of 70.
She was predeceased by her parents, Gerald Lasch and T. June (Higgs) Lasch and her brother Gordy Lasch. She will be deeply missed by her husband, James Graves; her daughters, Tera (Daniel Webster) Thompson-Webster and Amanda (Meagan Villanueva) Thompson; her grandchildren, Elliott, Silvie, and Maia Webster; her sister, Nancy (Richard) Waye and her brother Roger (Judy) Lasch; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Connie grew up in Hamlin, NY, and graduated from Brockport High School (1970) and Alfred State College (1972). She had a long career at SUNY Brockport as a secretary for the departments of Criminal Justice and Social Work, then as an administrative assistant for Enrollment Management and Student Affairs. She also volunteered her time and skills to fundraising and employee giving campaigns.
As proud as Connie was of her work, she was most devoted to staying curious and living a full life that she enjoyed, which included many interests, hobbies, and friends. She loved spending time doing outdoor activities no matter the season, whether she was golfing, cross country skiing, hiking, swimming in lakes, taking road trips, riding her bike, attending live music shows, or planning the best vantage point for watching a spectacular thunderstorm or meteor shower.
As a parent, Connie was proud, accepting, and encouraging. Her house hosted countless sleepovers and gatherings for her daughter's friends. As a grandmother, she was over the moon, devoted to loving and caring for her grandkids from the second they took their first breaths. She spent countless hours playing with them, taking them to parks, and making her time with them special. They adored her right back, and it was beautiful to witness their bond.
The family would like to thank the staff at Evergreen Place for their care throughout the last 3.5 years, over the course of the COVID pandemic, and especially during Connie’s final days. Rochester Regional Hospice care was also integral to ensuring Connie’s comfort and wellbeing over the last 6 months.
Calling hours will be this Thursday, April 27th from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM and a service will be held this Friday, April 28th at 11:00 AM at Fowler Funeral Home, 340 West Ave, Brockport 14420.
