Marjorie P. Cooper

Marjorie P. Cooper (Marge) aged 88, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2024, at Evergreen Place in Brockport, NY. She was born on December 22, 1935 in Rochester, NY to Mary and Peter Pukish. She is survived by her two daughters, Laurinda O’Brien (married to favorite son-in-law, Richard O’Brien) and Lynette Berg, along with four grandchildren (Jenna, Julia, Kirsten & Andrew) and one great granddaughter (Ella).

Marge endured a lot of loss in her life, starting with the loss of her mother at an early age. She entered the foster care system and lost her stable family life as well. Eventually, she met the love of her life and father of her children, Gordon Chapman. They met working at Delco. Together they traveled, had outdoor adventures, raised a few sheep and grew orchids. He passed away after a difficult battle with Melanoma in January of 1974. Eventually, she found love again and married David Cooper. David was a talented artist, passionate about music and enjoyed travel. He also preceded her in death in May of 2013. All of this grief could callous even the softest heart, and though Marjorie Cooper came off as abrasive at times, she maintained a strong love for her family. She pursued a career as a school librarian in the Brockport Central School District, inspiring literacy and a love of reading among children. She also loved reading, traveling, new adventures, watching TV with very loud volume, shopping for tchotchkes, eating sweet treats, and caring for her many plants, with orchids being her favorite. All this to say, Marge lived a good life, was loved and will be deeply missed by her family and friends. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Evergreen Place in Brockport for the kindness and compassion they showed Marge during the time she was a resident there.Marjorie P. Cooper will be laid to rest on August 12, 2024 at 10am in Lakeview Cemetery.
